Waterloo man to serve as Nader Iowa elector
Waterloo --Local resident David Larson has signed on as an Iowa elector for the independent presidential/vice presidential ticket of Ralph Nader and Matt Gonzales.
Currently Waterloo Coordinator for the Nader campaign, Larson was in 2004 the veteran consumer advocate's Iowa Coordinator. Before that, he worked as the Iowa Green Party's State Media Coordinator and helped launch the Black Hawk County Green Party chapter.
Larson also has participated in efforts for gay rights and in opposition to the Iraq War and the Patriot Act. In 2003, he joined a march through Washington, DC protesting the proposed invasion of Iraq.
He has published opinion pieces in several Iowa newspapers. In July, his essay "Shutting Out Ralph Nader" (written by him as "DC Larson") ran in the international political newsletter Counterpunch. That piece was quoted by the Nader campaign in its 7/30 press release, "Imperial Presidency."
Also as "DC Larson," he is the CD Review Editor for the Austin-based Rockabilly Magazine. His freelance articles on rock'n'roll have appeared in Goldmine, No Depression, Rock & Rap Confidential and others.
Last year, he contributed the liner notes to guitarist Barry Ryan's CD, and also insider reviews of Robert Gordon's tour promo CDs for the singer's website. He maintains an online writing blog and plans to self-publish his first novel, "Shake Rattle & Rocket!," later this year.
